This week's prompt is "thirst".

Why is your character experiencing thirst? Are they in a hot, dry location? A desert? Enclosed, air-conditioned office building? Or are they thirsting for knowledge? Enlightenment? Creative fulfilment?

Submissions are due next Monday, April 30, 2007.

Lurking
I'm sorry I've been lurking for the past few weeks. To tell you the truth, I've been hoping I could figure out how to properly post. I know shorter writings can just be posted, but there's something about longer writings... I don't know how to post them so they go into their own spot. I'm so new to this livejournal thing that I don't even know the terminology. If you understand what I'm asking... How the blazes do you do this???? please let me know. You will not insult my intelligence if you explain it as you would to a child - except kids these days know more about this stuff than many adults *grin*. Thanks! And another apology for the lurking.

Hi and welcome!!!

I'm sorry I've taken so long to get back to you, I hope you can forgive.

There are a few ways you can post stories.

1. Post directly to the community
To do this, click on "post" and follow the same steps as you would to post in your journal. Near the top of the page, there are a few options (such as choosing your userpic and changing the date). To post to a community rather than your journal, look at the second option from the top - "Post To" - and select the community from the pulldown menu. After that, fill in the rest of the page the same way as you would an entry on your journal, and hit post. (It'll even change to saying "Post to valleyofthemuse" as opposed to "Post to ramzeldamar")

2. Post to journal and link from community
The second option is to post your story in your personal journal first. Once it's been posted, follow the steps above to create a new post into the community. Include things like a title (if it has one), the prompt used, a summary, etc. (really, whatever you think should be included), then copy the url (the web address of the post) so that readers can follow the link back to your livejournal.

If you haven't already, check out the FAQ's (found here). You can find specific information about posting and managing your journal here:
http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqcat=entries
and for communities here:
http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqcat=community

If you have any other questions though, don't hesitate to ask (or if any of the above was unclear).

Thanks for joining valleyofthemuse ^_^
